Woman pleads guilty to injecting Colombian massage oil into lips and buttocks

A Dorchester, Massachusetts woman faces up to a year in prison and a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty to charges related to offering unlicensed lip and buttock augmentation injections using Colombian massage oil.

Valentina Perez Tavarez, pled guilty to charges that she performed the injections to at least 10 patients out of her home from February to September 2011. Tavarez, who is not a licensed physician, told federal agents she charged $700 per injection of the massage oil, which she had shipped from a laboratory in Colombia. Investigators found that the injections contained dimethylpolysiloxane, a silicone agent found in various products, such as breast implants, fast-food meats, shampoos, and aquarium sealants.
