What is revalidation?
January 9, 2023
To maintain Medicare billing privileges, a provider or supplier (other than a durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies [DMEPOS] supplier) must resubmit and recertify the accuracy of its enrollment information every five years, a process known as revalidation.
Revalidation has become a hot topic over the past few years. The danger of losing Medicare or Medicaid status is real; if practitioners do not revalidate on time, their account is often removed completely from the Medicare system, forcing them to reapply as initial applicants and delaying access to reimbursement while they are reevaluated for network inclusion.
