APP compensation on the rise
With the demand for advanced practice providers (APP) continuing to grow, their compensation continues to increase year-over-year, according to a survey conducted by consulting firm SullivanCotter.
According to the survey, median total cash compensation (TCC) for nurse practitioners and physician assistants increased 4.5% in 2022 from the year prior across all major specialty categories (primary care, medical, surgical, and hospital-based).
The survey results—based on information from nearly 700 health systems, hospitals, and physician group practices representing more than 100,000 APPs—also show that APP median TCC in all major specialty areas grew by 7.3% or more since 2019. The largest increases were seen in primary care (10.1%) and hospital-based specialties (up 9.1%).
