Potential solutions for the physician shortage

In response to reports of the impending physician shortage, FierceHealthcare recently explored possible remedies for the problem. It suggested the following approaches to help ease the shortage:

·         Ease scope of practice laws to expand the authority of physician assistants and nurse practitioners

·         Invest in training and education, especially for primary care residents

·         Leverage telemedicine and EHR communication technology
