Washington passes legislation to address physician shortage

Washington Governor Jay Inslee recently signed legislation that seeks to increase the number of family medicine physicians in rural areas of the state.

The legislation provides fiscal incentives for hospitals and clinics to expand or develop residency programs. It also requires medical schools that participate in the Family Medicine Residency Network to prioritize future residencies for areas with shortages.
