Final-year medical residents heavily recruited
January 15, 2015
Final-year medical residents reported being heavily recruited by hospitals, medical groups, and other organizations in response to the continuing physician shortage, according to the results of survey conducted by Merritt Hawkins.
Of the more than 1,200 respondents, 63% said they were contacted 51 or more times by recruiters, while 46% said they were approached more than 100 times.
The residents surveyed also reported leaning towards practicing in larger communities. Ninety-three percent said they preferred to practice in communities with a population of 50,000 or more, compared to just 3% who preferred to practice in communities with 25,000 or less people.
