Half of physicians surveyed considered careers outside of practice
Results of a survey recently conducted by healthcare solutions group Geneia found that 51% of physicians considered a career option outside of clinical practice at some point during their career. Even more physicians (61%) considered it if they have been practicing for less than 10 years.
The survey also found that 67% of physicians know another physician who will likely stop practicing within the next five years due to feeling burned out. Eighty-seven percent of respondents also said the practice of medicine has been made worse by the business and regulation of healthcare. A majority of respondents also reported that they believed quality time with patients may be a thing of the past (84%).
