NAMSS offers new credentialing tool

If you’ve ever wished that you could easily obtain a practitioner’s entire work history, you’re in luck. The National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) has announced a new tool, the NAMSS Practitioner Affiliation Sharing Source, which will serve as “a secure online repository that provides practitioners’ affiliation history with hospitals, surgery centers, health plans, group medical practices, and other Health Care Facilities (HCEs) for the entirety of the practitioners’ careers” according to a NAMSS press release.

Last week we reported that hospitals in Nevada may soon have the right to refuse employment to healthcare workers who smoke or drink; this week, a healthcare system in Pennsylvania has taken steps to do just that.  The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) will no longer hire people who use nicotine, beginning July 1.

Dr. Robert Marder’s live webcast on peer review, is just around the corner – see below for details on registering for this live webcast on March 12. Later this month, HCPro will host two free product demonstrations for tools that will assist with physician performance and peer review reports within your facility.

Please send any questions or comments about the e-newsletter to kgravel@hcpro.com.
