OPPE for physicians with no data

This week’s tip comes from Credentialing A to Z. OPPE isn’t without its difficulties and having a physician with no activity in your facility is one of them. You are required to collect data for evaluation of all privileged providers so what can you do?

Question: Is it acceptable to use data from another hospital for evaluation in your OPPE process?

Answer: No, it is not acceptable to use another hospital’s data to complete ongoing evaluations. You may request information from another facility, but it may only be used as supplemental data. It cannot be used instead of collecting your own, hospital-specific data.
