Plastic surgeons join ABMS

The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) has joined the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program, bringing the total number of participating ABMS Member Boards to 20, the ABMS announced last week.

The addition of the ABPS as a specialty board is significant because it enables the ABMS’ portfolio program to offer maintenance of certification (MOC) credit in an increasingly important specialty area, according to the ABMS, which oversees physician board certification in the U.S. Quality improvement efforts involving ABPS-certified physicians in the field of plastic surgery may now be submitted for MOC credit.
