Practitioner oversight requirements

According to the CMS Conditions of Participation for Medical Staff, §482.22, a hospital must have an organized medical staff that operates under bylaws approved by the governing body and is responsible for the quality of medical care provided to patients by the hospital. In addition to traditional methods for evaluation of care, options for assessing medical staff members' quality of care include patient satisfaction surveys and patient complaints.
