The truth about locum tenens

Val Jones, MD, founder and CEO of Better Health, summarized some interesting field research about locum tenens in a KevinMD blog earlier this week. Apparently there’s no love lost between hospital executives and locum tenens practitioners. I’m sure this isn’t news to CRCI readers, but this blog, presented as a Q&A, offers some reasons why: Agencies don’t screen well, and practitioners who look good on paper and sound competent over the phone aren’t necessarily so … sound familiar?

For other insights into dealing with locum tenens practitioners, check out the first installment of our “Overcoming Competency Assessment Challenges” webcast series, or the Medical Staff’s Guide to Overcoming Competence Assessment Challenges book, available now. If you have the time to read Jones’ blog, the comments at the end are interesting, too.

Thanks for reading!
