More than $8 million in grants will support research to aid long-term recovery in areas hard hit by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced this week. Research will focus on physical and behavioral health aspects of recovery including community resilience; risk communication and the use of social media; health system response and healthcare access; evacuation and policy decision making; and mental health.
