No charges for student who gained unauthorized access to hospital and treated patient
July 18, 2017
The University of Colorado-Denver student who gained unauthorized access to Denver Health Medical Center by posing as a medical student will not be prosecuted due to insufficient evidence, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office. The medical center will also not be cited by the state for any wrongdoing.
In April, Denver Health found that Vanessa Loznik, a freshman biology major, somehow obtained a student learner badge and posed as a medical student to gain access to areas of the hospital with patients. Loznik conducted rounds and placed sutures into a patient’s arm under a physician’s supervision. Denver Health notified the patient once it learned of the incident.
