Joint Commission tweaks standards to align with CMS
December 27, 2013
As a result of changes within the CMS Conditions of Participation, The Joint Commission standards language has been revised in order to maintain uniformity within both Leadership and Medication Management chapters, The Joint Commission announced last week. Among the changes for critical access hospitals are an additional Element of Performance (EP) for LD.04.03.01, EP A27: The critical access hospital provides acute care inpatient services.
Under critical access hospital Standard LD.04.03.09, “inpatient hospital care” has been removed from the requirements for EP A20. These changes are effective immediately.
