Man poses as physician, diagnoses patient
Ariya Ouskouian is accused of visiting two California hospitals between April and June and posing as a physician on several occasions. Authorities allege that Ouskouian cleared security at Children’s Hospital of Orange County by saying he lost his hospital ID badge and asking for a temporary one. He supposedly posed as a physician at that hospital on at least seven occasions. He is also alleged to have diagnosed a patient with a growth on his neck while posing as a physician at the University of California Irvine.
Ouskouian is a former student at the University of California Irvine. Ouskouian convinced personnel there that he was a physician. When hospital staff at Children’s Hospital of Orange County started to become suspicious of Ouskouian, they verified his physician status with the University of California Irvine.
Ouskouian was arrested last month and charged with a felony count of providing medical diagnosis while impersonating a doctor and eight misdemeanors of misrepresenting oneself as a licensed medical practitioner.
