Sneak peek: See how one medical center is celebrating MSP Awareness Week!

National Medical Staff Services Awareness Week, which kicks off this Sunday, presents an opportunity to elevate understanding of MSPs and to attract high-performing talent to the profession, says Raechel Rowland, RN, LSSGB, medical staff quality specialist at Ascension Borgess Medical Center (BMC) in Kalamazoo, Michigan. To engage all BMC employees in the medical staff services celebration, Rowland has created a PowerPoint presentation, which features headshots of the MSPs at BMC, background information on the profession, and an organizationwide contest for movie tickets.

Here’s what Rowland hopes to accomplish through this year’s festivities:

I am newly employed here, and my director asked our team how we would like to celebrate. This was my suggestion to raise general awareness but also to help fill two open postings for the department. I think we have committed to an annual celebration moving forward. The PowerPoint presentation was sent out in a global email, and I will print hard copies next week to make available around the hospital. All Borgess employees are eligible to enter the contest. Our hope is that they will come to the department to enter, and they can tour our office, meet the team, and get a snap shot of what we do! I am excited to promote awareness of BMC’s medical staff services department. Our service line is tied to patient safety and process excellence, which are both equally my passion!
