Two hospitals earn DNV GL infection management certification

DNV GL last week announced it had certified two Virginia healthcare facilities—Sentara Leigh and Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital—as the first two Centers of Excellence for its new Managing Infection Risk (MIR) certification, recognizing exceptional processes and an approach to mitigating infection risk that exceeds current standards.

DNV GL’s new MIR program is the first hospital certification for excellence in managing infection risk. Hospitals that earn MIR certification have met DNV GL’s comprehensive and risk based elements that comprise the standard, according to the accreditor. The MIR Certification standard is based on a proactive rather than reactive approach to safety; development of a transparent, accountable safety culture; and engagement of all staff toward a systems-driven approach to safety.
