’Other duties as assigned’
To celebrate National Medical Staff Services Awareness Week, the CRC blog has featured questions and answers on topics such as credentialing physicians in hospital-owned clinics, access to employed physicians’ contracts, and medical staff policy management. All have been topics that are covered, one way or another, in an MSP’s job description.
Now, as National Medical Staff Services Awareness Week comes to a close, it might be time for greater understanding the not-quite-medical-staff-related tasks you are called upon to perform on a given day. In your office, what falls under “other duties as assigned”? Do you deliver the refreshments to the MEC meeting? Do you provide welcome packets to physicians? As the saying goes, “it all needs doing,” but are you the go-to person to get it done?
Let me know, and once again, Happy National Medical Staff Services Awareness Week!
