Place the burden on the applicant with a policy

Often, MSPs feel that they must chase down information to help a physician complete his or her medical staff application. Keep in mind that it is the applicant’s responsibility to complete the application. To ensure this, every medical staff should have a policy that places the burden on the applicant to prove his or her clinical competence and provide all the information the medical staff leaders, credentials committee, medical executive committee, and governing body need to make evidence-based decisions regarding membership and privileges.
